Preventative Maintenance
All vehicles eventually need repairs. The only real question is
when will your vehicle have to go in the shop and how big the
repairs will be.
At SK Smog & Auto Repair, of Sacramento, we are committed to
helping you create a thorough preventative maintenance plan that
will keep your vehicle in top-running condition, extend its life,
ensure safe operation, and reduce the chance it will need major,
costly fixes.
In order to reduce or prevent costly repairs, we encourage our
customers to read the owner’s manual to learn about their
vehicle’s systems and components, follow the recommended service
schedules, and log all repairs and services.
Here are some other steps we recommend:
·
A good rule of thumb is to have your oil changed and oil filter
checked every 3,000-4,000 miles. At this time, also have other fluid
levels checked, including brake, power steering,
transmission/transaxle, windshield washer solvent and antifreeze.
·
Check your tires once a month. Under-inflated tires can result in a
loss in fuel efficiency.
·
Regularly check battery cables and costs for corrosion and clean as
needed. Also inspect engine belts for cracks or fraying.
·
Take the time to make sure your headlights and turn signals are
working. Replace windshield wipers if they start to crack, tear, or
leave streaks.
·
Have the engine checked if it starts to run rough. Bad sparkplugs,
or a plugged fuel injector can drastically reduce fuel efficiency.
